Characteristic, the province of East Kalimantan where the city of Balikpapan lies, is also rich with coal, mineral resources, and natural gas and oil reservoirs. Thus Balikpapan has become globally recognised as a major ‘gateway and hub’ to the Oil, Gas and Mining Business community throughout Asia and abroad.
Major international have setup operations, if not their head offices, in is very city, making its airport forth busiest in Indonesia, after Capital City Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali.
